I've been listening to all of your podcasts starting at the very beginning (since I just got my first ipod and just learned how to knit - and I'm obsessed with it!) Anyway, I'm up to number 22 now. You've mentioned a few times, as have some people on other knitting podcasts, that you take some of your books to Kinkos to get them spiral bound. Well... I have a suggestion that works great for me - and doesn't require me demolishing my books to do it. I use a cookbook stand to hold my books open - they are designed to hold a book upright on a kitchen counter to keep your cookbook open to the recipe you are using. All you do is replace the cookbook with your favorite knitting book and voila! The one I have is from Williams Sonoma. I got it as a wedding gift 7 1/2 years ago so I don't know if they still have them. It has a simple wooden base and a piece of cleat plastic mounted on it with a hinge. Then there is another piece of plastic that fits in a slot on the base that provides the support. The hinged piece of plastic holds the book open and prevents splatter (which occurs when cooking but not so much when knitting - unless you are getting super excited about something and start to spit when you are telling your husband how cool your project is going to turn out.)

Dear Marly and Jill,
I listen to the podcasts on the way home from school and they are great! I laugh so much. I try to teach some of my third graders every year to crochet, (Oh yeah I forgot to tell you I crochet.) It's great to pass the tradition along. You guys talk about being star struck all the time with other people. But Would love to meet you at a convention or book signing sometime because to me you're the stars. Go figure? Anywho, I started reading blogs over a year ago beginning with "The Crochet Dude". OMG is he the biggest star now or what??? I started downloading podcasts this fall and I'm addicted. Auntie Purl is great to read.... Just bought her book. It is so funny. Yarncraft is another podcast I listen to, oh yeah and Brianna from crochetside. So now I'm thinking.... Hey maybe I can do this too. But in the sticks of NH with dial up it would be hard. Hopefully I'll get something faster soon. Wow this is running long... kind of like your podcast! LOL. Please keep up the informal chat with friends format. I feel like I'm there hanging out with you. No one at school crochets. They all think I'm kind of weird listen to a podcast after school while I do reportcards. The other day I had it on loud and You guys were laughing on the podcast. My friend walked by my classroom and thought I was in here with a parent and she didn't want to disturb me. That's a good way to keep people away to get work done. Sooooo. Just keep on doing what you're doing and I'll keep on being inspired by you!!! Someday I might be podcasting as SULLIVAN STASHER SUSAN!
